Nashville Wedding: Kathryn + Gavin
Posted on October 28, 2010
Kathryn and Gavin’s wedding was on a Saturday several weeks ago. Though it was most definitely a fall wedding, it was just as warm as some of the summer weddings I’ve photographed earlier this year. With the setting sun though, came cooler temperatures – which made for an incredibly gorgeous evening ceremony. I had an extremely difficult time in narrowing down the images to just my 50-60 favorites for this post – I can tell you this though: the happiness and love these two share for each other was apparent during the whole day (Look at how Kathryn is looking at Gavin just before the kiss!). What follows are some of my favorite moments from throughout the day. I’m thankful to have to been able to document this very special day for this awesome couple – congratulations Kathryn and Gavin!

Quick one from this past weekend’s engagement session. This was kind of a spur of the moment kind of thing – but I’m thrilled they found me as their engagement photographer. Ashley and Jeff will be getting married next year – in the meantime, they’re planning their move to Delaware. For you photography folks, this is 35 images @ 85/1.4 stitched together.

That was an awesome wedding. It’s 2 am and I just now finished downloading all of the images. This was the first chance I’ve had to photograph a wedding at Cedarwood Mansion and I was just blown away by what an amazing venue it is. Much more to come — congratulations Megan and Brad!

One for the Road

Wow – it’s been an extremely crazy couple of weeks – I know it’s really hard to tell from the posts I’ve made (more like the lack of). Fracturing my hand (long story) didn’t help things out at all either. In the next 9 days I have 2 weddings, 2 engagement sessions, and a rehearsal dinner to photograph, so I will have no shortage of images to share with you.
I’m nearly finished editing Kathryn’s wedding from a few weeks ago, but here’s one more image I just absolutely love. This was one of the last images ever taken with my Carl Zeiss 85 mm lens – for those that don’t know, I have completely switched systems to Nikon. I found myself using my Nikon camera more and more plus Nikon’s superiority in capturing detail under low light circumstances has proven to be useful while photographing weddings (I chose them over Canon b/c I do honestly believe it is a more complete camera — for those that care, I am the proud owner of two d700′s).
I still have something pretty big I’m going to announce – I’ve been holding off as I’ve been trying to recruit sponsorship to help defray some of the costs. More on that soon. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

The Rings
Posted on October 14, 2010
I love shooting the rings. Absolutely love it. They symbolize the eternal love you have for each other and they are something you wear for the rest of your life — that’s pretty powerful stuff. These are the the rings from a recent wedding – Kathryn’s rings were incredibly gorgeous. Gavin’s band is made of Demascus steel – definitely one of the most unique wedding rings I’ve ever seen. I’m in the midst of editing several weddings – so plenty more to come plus a huge announcement later this week for those getting married in 2011.

Upcoming
Posted on October 9, 2010
With only three scheduled weddings remaining for this year, more and more I will have the chance to show some of the other non- wedding photography work I’ve been doing. There is also a big announcement for brides getting married next year that I will be making on my blog (hopefully by the end of next week) – so keep checking back.
For now, here’s one of my favorites from a recent session for Austin’s senior pictures. We met just off the square in Murfreesboro last week and had a chance to produce some images that are a little different (and way more awesome) than typical senior portraits. Enjoy!
