Nashville Engagement: Melanie + Bill

Posted on January 17, 2012

To say I’m looking forward to Melanie and Bill’s wedding would be a (huge) understatement. Their location is unique (beneath the Redbud tree in their yard)
and I’m pretty sure with their musical background that the reception is going to rock. Here are a few favorite pictures from their engagement session.

Nashville Engagement: Allison + Matt

My first post of 2012 — still getting used to writing that two weeks into the New Year. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Matt
& Allison’s engagement session in Nashville — taken in the fall as the leaves were still turning. A few more posts from 2011 still to come.

I just returned from 16 days on another continent. We both enjoyed our vacation – but it always feels good to come home.

Here’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in person. 6 weddings in the next 6 weeks.

My favorite moment from 2010 was at some point during the reception when Megan and Brad managed to sneak away for a little alone time (their wedding was at the always gorgeous Cedarwood Mansion).

It was incredibly difficult to find what image I wanted to post, as I took upwards of 20,000 pictures this year. I am thankful and blessed to have been the wedding photographer for so many amazing couples. I’m really looking forward to 2011 – I already have two winter engagement sessions to share and a wedding coming up as early as March.

Happy New Year!

Five

This year I was fortunate enough to witness some pretty awesome moments as couples started out on their journey as husband and wife. That being said, between now and the end of the year I would like to share some of these moments with you in the form of 5 images that I really love. This one’s from Stacey and Justin’s engagement session and is actually composed of nine frames. Have a good weekend — more to come as the year closes out.

A New Month

Posted on September 2, 2010

The first image below was the first sunset of the new month as seen from my parent’s front yard – a site I was used to seeing quite often prior to leaving for college.  The rest were taken in front / behind my own house in Nashville– all with my new 45 mm tilt-shift lens (a lens capable of shifting perspective).  I included an image of the infamous birdhouse because there’s a story behind it.

Lauren and I had just purchased our house in Nashville, and were looking for something to add to the fence in our backyard.  Lauren found the birdhouse, constructed out of old building materials, at a local art festival and brought it home.  While mounting it to the fence, I dropped one of the screws, allowing just enough time for the wind to knock the birdhouse off the mounting brackets.  The rusted metal roof easily sliced the top of my hand open, resulting in a trip to the ER and 8 stitches.  My wife loves that birdhouse and I’ll never forget that trip to the ER – which means it will go with us whenever we decide to move.  I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!
