I met an awesome couple this past weekend to do some engagement pictures in downtown Nashville. It was kind of cold, with the temperature hovering just above freezing when the sun went down, but we still had a good time. This one was taken just a moment before the sun set below the skyline – one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city of Nashville is visible in the background. More to come!
Lindsey and Seth’s wedding was amazing. It was the last true fall wedding of the year as Nashville more or less moved into winter the following week. As was the case for most Saturday weddings this fall, the guys spent the afternoon watching football (Tennessee football actually), while the girls got ready nearby. Their gorgeous wedding was at Brentwood United Methodist Church, and the reception was held at the Factory at Franklin in Jamison Hall. Sky Line Drive provided some of the best live music I’ve heard in a long time. My favorite moment of the evening by far was when they exited to their friends and family singing Rocky Top — truly great stuff. Here are some of my favorite pictures and moments from their day. Congratulations Lindsey and Seth!
The shot of Lindsey walking in with her dad where they are at the bottom of the stairs is just perfect. I love the symmetry of the image.
Great stuff Paul. One of my favorites of yours.
The ring-shots are my favourites, so clean, simple and striking!
You’ve got a good eye Paul… some super compositions!
Wow! Seriously… wow! You hit this one out of the park for sure. What a party. Seeing these images makes me feel sad that I wasn’t invited (even though I don’t know this couple). It looks like it was a total blast. Having good live bands at weddings makes me want to move back to Nashville ;-)
those bridal party shots ROCK! beautiful work paul – love the way you vary your perspectives (and focal lengths) while shooting; the attention you pay to capturing the mood, moment and details of everything this way says much about how hard you work! great set.
Awesome job, Paul. Loved your use of the fall colors as a backdrop.
Oh yeah! Way to be creative with the bridal party shots. The reception looked like one hell of a party.
Loveeee those stair shots!
Such a gorgeous wedding, and you’ve definitely done a brilliant job capturing it! I’m really loving your black and whites.
The stair shots are epic! All in all awesome work.
I found your site while looking for engagement photographers in Hilton Head (presumably due to your recent wedding there). Your work is gorgeous!!
really great photos, beautifully told story of love
Awesome set. It looks like it was such a fun wedding. I love the shot on the big staircase.
Great shots! I love the grand exit photo :)
Wow! You are amazing! I love all the energy you captured at the reception! All the images are beautiful!
Fantastic job, man, there are lots of great moments here. I’m glad that football didn’t fly into your camera, even though it would have made a great GIF.
LOVE the wide angle shots (walking in fornt of the stairs and the ceremony from behind the door/window)! And that ring shot, seriously awesome dude. I really hope my cousin hires you for her spring wedding!! :)
Great work! Looks like a fun wedding and you’ve captured it really well.
Great job on this wedding – from the details to the exit, this is awesome.
LOVE that first black and white of the groom, the emotion there is great!
not sure how i missed this post, but absolutely fantastic job paul. my favorite work from you yet!
Thrilled to share this – Kathryn and Gavin’s October wedding was recently featured on a national blog – thePinkBook.com. This is the second wedding I’ve had featured in a national publication and I’m thankful I had such a wonderful couple to work with. Please check out the article, as it goes into greater detail about how Gavin proposed and the actual planning that went into their gorgeous wedding at the Nashville zoo.
Nice job, Paul. Look forward to maybe working with you some next year.
Way to go Paul! Looks great!
Hey, rock on Paul!
As a Nashville wedding photographer, I don’t have the opportunity to shoot very many beach weddings — which is why I was thrilled when Beth and Ron asked me to join in the celebration of their marriage on Hilton Head Island. This was my first visit to the island and I honestly have to say that if you’ve never been to HHI, you’re really missing out. The site of their wedding was truly amazing and what follows are some pictures from their wedding day (7% of the awesomeness that was their wedding if you’re going by total image count). Congratulations Beth and Ron!
Dang Paul…love your black and whites. Do you process them in lightroom? Really really well done.
Really beautiful photos and wedding. I love the texture to your photos!
Smooth set!
Great work! I love that shot of the groom looking down the aisle waiting for his bride….awesome work man!
An awesome 7% indeed Paul. Great work dude!
I’m loving the outdoor images! Nice. The BM and flower girl photos are great!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE those reception shots. Beautiful couple!!!
Nicely done, Paul. I love the last shot… but great images all around. Love the light on the beach and love the edge lighting on the reception shots. Very cool.
LOL…I was just about to write on how much I like your color shots and your processing when I saw the previous comment on how Sam loves your black and whites – I guess all of your shots are just amazing. Great work.
That little girl’s laugh in the third shot totally just made my day. :D
Love beach wedding. Love the images (my wife said the same). Good job
Also, the bw photo of the little girl on the chair is just sooo cute! :)
Beautiful, beautiful photos. You captured the emotions of the day very well. Great job!
Yeah…. so this whole post is awesome sauce. I love the color tones, I don’t think I have ever seen a better shot beach wedding.
Beautiful work Paul, the tones are really beautiful and the reception lighting is great.
Great shots – I love beach weddings! Perfect.
I love all the great shots from the reception – you captured a great range of expressions and exposures.
Gorgeous shots!! absolutely love the motion, movement and all the passion that you’ve captured!
Wow, great black and whites!! Great job on the entire wedding!
I found you on flickr and thought I’d stop by your blog, I’m blown away by your natural, quirky and artsy style. I love the way you frame your photos and composition and just the creative direction each one of them takes. Great work here!! xxx
I’ve been looking forward to sharing Lauren and Brent’s Nashville engagement photography for a while now. Their wedding will take place in June in Knoxville next year and I can’t wait to serve as their photographer. We started out in Centennial Park before relocating to a spot downtown near the War Memorial — as I mentioned in the preview post, I think it is the best spot in the entire city to watch a sunset. It was very windy, which made for much cooler temperatures after the sun went down. They asked me if it was alright to throw on their TN & AL jerseys for some pictures — I definitely didn’t have a problem with it – and loved (as a college football fan) that a couple wanted something like this. Congratulations Lauren & Brent!
Love the shots inside the War Memorial. And how cool of them to wants some photos with their college football gear!
uuuh, flare?! how are you getting flare like that?! killer job.
Love the first jersey shot. Very sweet, and glad one of them has the RIGHT jersey on (ROLL TIDE!). Good stuff Paul.
These are awesome.
Great job Paul. Love all the angles and use of lighting. The shadows are moody and deep. The flare is soooo pretty.
So good to see the rest of these from the preview – that last shot in particular is beautiful. You’re a talented man.
The shots in between the columns are really gorgeous. Great job!
Love the lighting in these!! Roll Tide! (had to throw that in) ;)
It’s been nearly a year since I met Megan and Brad for dinner at Rose Pepper in East Nashville to talk about their wedding photography. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the conversations we had about how they met (through a mutual friend at a Habitat for Humanity project) and why they make a good team.
They were married a few weeks ago at a truly amazing venue — Historic Cedarwood. This fall wedding was absolutely gorgeous and filled with so many great moments. I especially thought that the time they spent together before the ceremony – seeing each other for the first time – was something very special. You’ll notice them looking out through the blinds that are in the front room of the mansion – they’re looking at their family and friends mingling on the front lawn right before the wedding. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into their day. Congratulations Megan and Brad!
Such a lovely wedding. The details are amazing. The photo with them holding the jars is so sweet.
Oooh I heart the colour scheme! So pretty! Loving all the details shots!
VERY nice Paul! Great shots of them and their day, and your details here are amazing. That swing shoe shot is perfection.
I am a very, very lucky person! I am almost speechless…Paul is an absolute amazing photographer with such a delightful personality. There were so many details I missed that day with the commotion of being a bride, but I had faith that Paul would capture it all. He exceeded my expectations and then some! There were so many details and emotions that were brought to life through these pictures. They are timeless..period.
Great photos! We love this couple so much, and their wedding was a joy.
well done paul. i really dig the portraits under the chandelier. fantastic stuff.
What amazing details. And what great images you captured. You do beautiful work.
Those green on white shots are perfection. Great work, Paul.
I am the groom from this wonderful wedding. Paul, you did a fantastic job and we appreciate your efforts so very much. You captured all the beauty of my stunning bride along with the details and splendor of that wonderful day. Thanks!
I adore the green accents, and I love the black and white of the ceremony. Great set.
Lovely shots! The couple shots in the wood building are beautiful, love the black and white
Wow.. Great Wedding Paul!!! Really awesome details! Love the “LOVE” on the house and those white and green detail shots are sweet!!
What a gorgeous venue! The smiles say it all though. Love the walking down the aisle shot.
Paul… these are killer! They look so happy. Great lighting in the reception. They must be thrilled!
such a cute wedding all those details are simply amazing
This set is soooooo good. Awesome job on the details and everything else
Wow! Perfect capture. Love all the details here!
Can’t. stop. looking. I love the way Brad looked at me when I came down the aisle. AND my nephew walking me down the aisle, so proud. :)
Love that second to last one! Cool!
These are gorgeous, Paul! I love purple and green together, and the bride’s details are fantastic. You captured many great moments throughout the day, too.
They incoperated the colors wonderfully! That shot of the bride and groom holding the candles is magic. Great work!
I’m really looking forward to sharing the pictures from Megan and Brad’s wedding at Cedarwood. For now though, one more image from their day I found while applying my black and white conversion (they get a copy in color and another in monochrome). I love this picture. It happens a lot when editing a wedding that I find quite a few images where I can’t decide which version I like better — with or without color can be a hard choice sometimes. I think the source of this indecision comes from my film days in college. Though I really like this one, I can’t wait for you to see this picture with all of the vibrant yellows and oranges. Complete post to follow.
Quick image from Beth and Ron’s gorgeous Hilton Head Island wedding last weekend. Their October wedding on the beach was about as perfect as it gets. This was the first chance I’ve had to visit Hilton Head – and let’s just say I’ll have to find an excuse to get back there.
Can’t wait to see the rest of these Paul. It looks gorgeous.
Ashley and Jeff will be moving to Delaware soon. Before leaving Nashville though, they really wanted their engagement photography done here since it’s the city where they met and got engaged. That’s where Starbucks comes in — that’s the location of their first date and where their history began. We tried to hit up some iconic Nashville spots prior to ending up down by the pedestrian bridge near LP Field. Here are some of my favorite images – my absolute favorite one out of all of them is the one with the lens flare caused by some car headlights in the distance. Congratulations Ashley and Jeff on the big move and getting engaged!
I adore your night time shots! Awesome!
So beautiful, Paul. Love the variety of locations you visited, and especially that you started at Starbucks. That will be extremely meaningful since they’re moving away. :)
Very nice Paul! Love the story too.
Some beautiful images. Love the ones in the park, the colors and composition are brilliant. Very well done.
Wow, love the different views you have here. Love the shots in the park!
Paul, these are gorgeous. So hard to pick a favorite! Love the one where they are on the blanket kissing. The sun setting behind them is just perfect. :)
Somehow I really love the starbucks pics! :D
Epic series of images Paul. Fantastic compositions and great energy between Ashley & Jeff.
What a sweet set – I really like the shots with the columns!
I love those shots of them in the leaves! Very cool.
What an awesome session. They are super cute. The colors are magical. Well done.
Killer set Paul. Love your tilt shift stuff. Love the processing too.
Super lovely Paul…the whole session has such an intimate feel to it…well done!
Starting with starbucks can never be a bad start! The night shots are great! Love the set!
gotta love the coffee start to the session. I love the night time stuff.
Awesome photos, The night shots are amazing…
Epic. i love your style. makes me want to get a ts lens now!
Great night time photos!
I don’t want to sound cheesy, but the first word that popped into my mind when I saw those photographs in the leaves is “magical”. Awesome, awesome work, Paul.
Prior to leaving for a wedding in Hilton Head, I had the opportunity to do engagement pictures for Lauren and Brent in downtown Nashville. Here they are looking out over the city — briefly ignoring the wind that was becoming increasingly cooler as the sun went down. This spot has to be one of the best in the entire city to view a sunset. They will be getting married next June in Knoxville – more images from their engagement to come!
Love the framing. :-)
Saw this on FB, but it looks even better on your blog Paul. The colors are money dude. For real
Such GORGEOUS light!!! And wonderful use of TS!
So freakin’ awesome! POST MORE! :) Love this one!
Lindsay - Great shot! Love the silhouette and the pretty sky color.
Jerry - Paul, as usual, incredible!
